Simpson Properties is continuing with the redevelopment of the Shops at Kanawha in Charleston, WV. The new design incorporates the recently opened Elder Beerman department store and a fresh slate of retailers.
Phase I of the project has opened with AT&T, Radio Shack, Regis, Different Twist Pretzel, and Luxury Nail and Spa among the tenants.
Landlord construction has been completed in Phase II. China Buffet, Music Mania and Treasures have already opened. Piro Pizzeria is nearing the completion of construction and is scheduled to open August 1, 2009.
Dollar Tree opened in Phase III prior to the fourth of July holiday weekend. We are negotiating with several other fine merchants to open in 2009. Details on these particular stores will be provided as leases are executed.
We have reached an agreement with the State of West Virginia to open a substantial administrative office (scheduled to open in late summer 2009) at the property. The addition of these 300 employees combined with the 800 employees already working at the State DEP guarantees a strong daily customer count.
Elder Beerman and the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles office have been able to remain open throughout the construction period. Gabriel Brothers continues to co-anchor this shopping center and completed a facelift of their store in March, 2009. The Kroger's store has continued to thrive at this site alongside all of the changes we have brought to this development.
We continue to seek those retailers who want to open in a new development located at one of the best locations in the State of West Virginia.
For an updated list of these retailers coming to the Shops at Kanawha, please contact Kathy Fox at (814) 539-8900. For curbside appeal and a view of what is coming, click here on Shops at Kanawha.
